These loaded chilli hot dogs might just be the perfect dinner idea, especially because they’re loaded with bbq chilli, cheese, and Honey Chipotle BBQ Sauce.
1 tbsp oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
500g ground beef
250ml beef stock
250ml boiling water
4 hot dog sausages
4 hot dog buns
100g grated cheddar cheese
1 small handful jalapeños, sliced
1 tbsp chopped chives
1 jar Mother Tomato Simmer Sauce
3 tbsp Honey Chipotle BBQ Sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Pour in the Mother Tomato Simmer Sauce, beef stock, and boiling water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in Honey Chipotle BBQ Sauce and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavours to deepen.
In a frying pan over medium heat, cook the hot dogs with a drizzle of Honey Chipotle BBQ Sauce, turning occasionally, until warmed through and caramelised, about 5 minutes.
Place each hot dog in a bun, then generously spoon over the chilli. Sprinkle with grated cheddar and bake in the oven at 180°C for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is perfectly melted.
Finish with jalapeños, chopped chives, and another drizzle of Honey Chipotle BBQ Sauce for extra smoky sweetness.
