We started Sauce Shop in 2014 from our home kitchen, fuelled by frustration with bland, mass-produced sauces.
We wanted big flavour, real ingredients, and sauces that could be the hero of every dish, so we made our own.

All of the sauces will be delivered with over 12 months and for mayonnaise it will be at least 6 months.
You can store them in the cupboard until opening and then when opened keep in the fridge.
Once opened we recommend using the ketchup, bbq and hot sauces within 3 months. The mayonnaise within 2 months and the simmer sauces within 3 days (you normally use the whole jar in one go).
At Sauce Shop, we use a few different chillies for our hot sauces. We aren't trying to make the hottest sauces on the planet, so you won't find any Carolina Reapers or Naga Vipers around here. We use chillies because of their flavour profile.
Most of our sauces feature jalapeños, one of the most popular chillies in the world. Once fermented, they bring lots of fresh, fruity and tangy flavours. We also use a lot of habaneros, another really popular chilli. You'll find these in Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce and Piri Piri. These are hotter, fruitier and more citrusy than jalapeños.
We've switched things up with our chilli jams. Our Scotch Bonnet Chilli Jam features scotch bonnet, and our Amarillo Chilli Jam uses mild, mellow aji amarillo chillies.
All of the sauces in this range feature our signature fermented chillies. We take perfectly ripened chillies, salt them, and let them age for 2-4 weeks, unlocking all of their complex, fruity layers of flavour.
Simmer Sauces are our answer to the “quick dinner, big flavour” problem. Most jarred sauces are convenient, but at the expense of flavour. Ours are different. We’ve kept the ease of a ready-to-use sauce and packed it with the flavour you’d expect from something made from scratch at home.
From fresh, punchy pasta and loaded burritos to creamy, spice-packed curries – they’re perfect for midweek dinners, lunchtime meal prep, or those emergency back-up meals.
There are a lot of beliefs, myths and misinformation when it comes to ingredients and nutrition. Our founders Pam and James both studied Food Science at University and worked in the food industry before starting Sauce Shop. They're well versed at separating fact and fiction. They started Sauce Shop to avoid unnecessary ingredients.
With seed oils, the scientific evidence does not support that seed oils are harmful. The only scientific basis for them being harmful is if they are repeatedly heated and cooled over and over which would happen in a restaurant fryer. Most of this misinsformation comes from individuals or companies who profit from people avoiding seed oils.
There is fearmongering around them being bleached - but this is actually a process that filters them using clay, not household bleach as we know it. Some people warn of hexane being used in the process however this is almost all removed and it's been shown that we breathe in up to 20x more hexane from petrol fumes than is left over in seed oils.
We realise we are also biased so please try Googling 'are seed oils harmful', find the unbiased info and don't believe everything you read or hear on the internet.
With sugar, we believe moderation is key. Over indulgence in sugary treats, cakes, doughnuts etc. could contribute to an overweight issue, which is more likely to lead to further health issues, however this does not mean all added sugar needs to be avoided. There's a myth that sugar feeds cancer and this is disproven on the Cancer Research website. Again, check your sources of information.
We don’t build our recipes around artificial preservatives, colourings, or flavours.
In practice, our sauces stay shelf-stable because of vinegar, salt, sugar, and proper production, not because we load them with additives.
Most of our sauces are made from real foods like tomatoes, chillies, vinegar, spices, sugar and salt — not lab additives.
That means many of our products would not typically be considered UPF under common definitions.
The whole set is suitable for vegetarians however Honey Sriracha, Honey Chipotle BBQ and Special Makhani are not suitable for vegans.
We don't use gluten in our factory and so it is not present in any of these products. We do not test for absence of gluten which is why we don't label them as gluten free.
