Endangered BBQ Sauce (255g)

Endangered BBQ Sauce (255g) - Sauce Shop

Regular price £4.00

We've teamed up with Neon Raptor to create this beer-bbq mash-up. A tangy bite, with rich malty notes and a gentle chilli heat. Made using Neon Raptor's Endangered, an American Porter matured with oak, bourbon and vanilla. Glaze onto ribs, pulled pork or anything smoky.

Tasting Notes (courtesy of The Crafty Aardvark):

Fairly dark chocolate brown colour. Smooth consistency with specks of spices. Thick but not as thick as most bbq sauces, this is a good thing (I'll explain later). Aroma is intense, seriously malty with a definite garlic and a slight tomato note. There's a sweetness and a nice oakey bourbon alongside an aged chilli and a spicy smokey aroma. Seriously awesome. Initially it's sweet with brown sugar and a touch of vanilla, caramel and tomato. The middle adds a seriously smokey edge with a deep malty flavour, lots of garlic, black pepper and a hint of salt. The finish has a nice chilli heat, the chilli has an aged taste, there's also a nice bourbon whisky.

I like sauces, bbq, chilli, chilli mayonnaise I'll eat most of them.
However this is by far the best bbq sauce I've ever had.
As I mentioned before it's not as thick as most bbq sauces, this is because it's not full of weird thickening agents or unnecessary ingredients.
The depth of flavour is intense, it swings between sweet, smokey, spicy, malty and hot.
The Endangered porter really shines through, as does the aged chilli.
I actually used it as a glaze on the beef brisket before slow cooking it for 4 hours, it added a superb sweet, malty stickyness.

Ingredients: Endangered Porter (water, barley, hops, yeast, vanilla), Tomato Paste, Tamari (water, soybeans, salt, spirit vinegar), Brown Sugar, Onion, White Grape Vinegar, Aged Red Jalapeno, Garlic, Sea Salt, Spices.

See allergens in bold.

At Sauce Shop we obsess over flavour. There should be no compromise, so we only use real ingredients to make sauces that taste extraordinary. Flavour takes a back seat in too many sauces, but each ingredient we use is selected to enhance what you taste.

We're daring to be different where mediocrity rules. Care to join us?

NO JUNK. REAL FLAVOUR.

Not For Me.

As a huge advocate of a wide range of sauces, I always try new sauces whenever I come across them.. whether in a shop or online. I have tried a lot of the Sauce Shop range.. and for me this is just another disappointing sauce like most on offer at the Sauce Shop. I don't think any of the sauces i've tried thus far have had a particularly nice taste to them, when compared to other brands. However this, like anything, is subjective and just down to my own personal taste.

Unusual but awesome

Being quite a fan of craft beer (and having read the Crafty Aardvark review of this sauce) I decided to give this a go. I’ve sampled other Sauce Shop offerings before and been mightily impressed, so was really looking forward to this collab with a craft brewery.

I could go on and on about it, but I’ll keep it short - this sauce is incredible stuff. Don’t expect a full-on sweet experience, this stuff has depth and dimension (literally not words I thought I would ever use when talking about sauce). It’s rich, it’s sweet yes but also malty and deep. I’d happily enjoy it as a dipping sauce, but I used it on a slow-cooked brisket and made pulled beef buns. That’s where, for me, this sauce shines - as a sauce base, marinade or baste. The little I have left is going onto steaks for the barbecue.

Great job on this sauce, would give 10 stars if that were an option, you have just earned a repeat customer.
